Camp Oh Pea Dee

Oregon Park District’s Summer Camp is back and ready to ‘travel’ the states with our 2022 theme ‘Road Trip Across America’!

 

May 23, 2022 – August 12, 2022 | 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

Camp Oh Pea Dee is designed for students entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. We emphasize fun, planned activities, peer socialization, and personal achievement. Campers will have the opportunity to swim each Monday/Wednesday, use the splash pad each Friday, and participate in local field trips every Thursday! Our theme this year is “Road Trip Across America,” where campers will learn fun facts about states and participate in themed activities each week!  This summer, camp is limited to 25 campers per week. Registration & Payment 

Registration for Camp Oh-Pea-Dee is available online or by phone (815) 732-3101.  Parents can choose to pay in full at the time of registration or select the Summer Camp Payment Plan.  The payment plan allows you to reserve your child’s spot in summer camp with a non-refundable deposit.  The non-refundable deposit will be 10% of the weekly registration fee, and the remaining balance will be automatically invoiced to your card on file 10 days before the first day of camp.

Financial Assistance is available for Camp Oh-Pea-Dee.  To be eligible to receive financial assistance, the applicant must be a resident of the District, be a child of parents in temporary financial need, apply for assistance in writing using the financial aid form provided by the District, and provide evidence of need.  Further information and the application can be found here.  Contact Alyssa Barringer for more information at alyssa@oregonpark.org.

Camp Oh-Pea-Dee Refund Policy

To withdraw a child from a week of summer camp, a refund application must be submitted online. A full refund, less the 10% non-refundable deposit, will be granted if the application for refund is filed at least 14 days before the scheduled start of the week. If the week was not yet paid but scheduled to be automatically withdrawn from the refund applicant, the scheduled invoice will be terminated. Refunds will not be granted after the 14 days prior unless due to a medical note or emergency. All refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels that week.


Camp Oh-Pea-Dee Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I register for specific weeks and/or specific days?
A: You must register for the entire week. If you choose not to attend specific days during the week, you will still be charged the full weekly price. We are offering camp on a week-by-week basis, or you may register for the entire summer but you don’t need to attend every day but will be charged for full week.

Q: We may have family vacations and/or other trips that we don’t know the dates yet?
A: A 10% non-refundable deposit is due when reserving your week. You have up to 11 days prior to that week’s camp start to withdraw and receive a refund less the 10%.

Q: Where will Camp Oh-Pea Dee be located this summer?
A: Camp will be housed in the Oregon Elementary School in room 128. This new location offers an indoor gym, outdoor playground, numerous areas for planned activity and games, as well as being right next to Park West! The elementary school doors are secured in the summertime as safety is always top priority! This allows us to maintain the security and peace of mind you’ve come to expect with the Oregon Park District. Campers will still be able to utilize Nash and its pool throughout the summer, as well as taking local field trips around the community.

Q: Field trips are back, where will the campers be going?
A: Our field trips will remain local and are subject to change due to park district/business interests. More information will be announced when details are confirmed. Trips will either be walking or use of the Oregon Park District vans. Busing will not be used to keep costs low. We look forward to exploring the area with the campers and finding unique places to visit for a fun summer!

Q: Camp runs from 7:00 a.m.-5 p.m. each day? What if I am running late and need to pick up after 5 p.m.?
A: Staffing and program costs are the biggest hurdles for any summer camp. Due to this, we have had to make cuts to our programming time. We promise to provide the same programming/activities you have come to expect with Camp Oh Pea Dee.  Late pickups will be charged a late fee of $15 for every 15 minutes your child stays with us at camp. We enforce this late policy to keep program/staff costs low so that everyone may enjoy camp! Q: What will my child need to bring to camp?
A: Campers will need to bring a reusable water bottle each day to camp for when we are outside for programming. Campers will need to bring a swimsuit, towel on swim days. A snack and drink will be provided each day in the afternoon. Campers will need to provide a sack lunch each day that is peanut-free. On field trip days, we ask campers wear a closed-tow shoe, no flip-flops. Information for specific field trip days will be sent home prior to each week enrolled. Campers will be active this summer and we encourage them to dress for fun and activity each day.

Q: Will swim lessons be offered for campers this year?
A: Swim lessons will be offered to campers on Mondays for an additional fee through Catch the Wave. These lessons will only be offered to campers and more information will follow after camp sign-up.
